Editorial Policy

Accuracy, context, fairness and transparency guide everything we publish.

Last updated

Our reporting is guided by accuracy, context, fairness and transparency. We distinguish news from opinion, seek appropriate sourcing and correct meaningful errors promptly.

Sources and attribution

Stories identify material sources where appropriate. When we rely on a company statement, a report or another outlet’s original work, we say so and link to it. Uy Trending does not republish competitor reporting as original work. Where a source asks not to be named, an editor knows who they are and why we are protecting them.

News, features, explainers and opinion

Stories are labelled by type so you know what you are reading. News reports facts. Explainers give context and background. Features and opinion carry a point of view and are labelled as such.

Images and credits

Photos and graphics carry a credit, and we describe images in alt text for readers who use screen readers. We label illustrations and any image created with software tools.

Advertising and independence

Uy Trending is funded by advertising, and our editors decide what to cover without input from advertisers.

  • Advertisements are clearly labelled “Advertisement” and placed between, never inside, our reporting.
  • Advertisers do not see, review or approve stories before they publish.
  • Any paid or sponsored content, if we publish it, is labelled “Sponsored” with the sponsor’s name, is kept apart from news, and still meets this policy’s standards.
  • If we ever include affiliate links, we will say so on the story.

Comments

We welcome discussion and moderate it for safety and relevance. See our terms of use.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it and tell you. Read our corrections policy, and our AI and automation policy for how software-assisted tools fit into our workflow.
